Unfolding Growth: A Visual Journey

A few years ago, I started working on a motion illustration project. It focused on the concept of small elements coming together to form a more cohesive whole. Reflecting our place in the universe. Unfortunately, the project never quite came together the way that I was envisioning it.
Then I stumbled upon a song called "Trying My Best To Move Forward" by Daniel Birch. The song sparked something inside me and inspired me to reflect on a number of important topics. The idea that we all strive to keep moving forward, regardless of life's difficulties. It made me think about growth—from the smallest cellular level to the grand scheme of things. Every day, we grow wiser and learn more about ourselves and others. It also made me think deeper about overcoming setbacks that are crucial for our growth, as challenges test us and help us develop. Even when it feels like we're going in circles, each cycle adds to our overall growth and understanding.
With this new, fresh perspective, I revisited my visual project, which originally had a straightforward approach, and made several refinements. I added subtle visual elements, synchronized with the music, adding depth and complexity. I also explored visual turbulence and temporal displacement, symbolizing the fluctuation between setbacks and progress. I found that these new perspectives created a dynamic visual narrative that helped to convey the philosophy of incremental progress and the importance of looking at the big picture.
The song's message is universal and resonates across all aspects of life. It encourages me to view life as a vast ocean and refuse to give in to the crashing waves. My animation conveys the idea of incremental progress, emphasizing that small steps and victories lay the groundwork for achieving larger aspirations, even in the face of temporary setbacks.
In conclusion, the piece reinforces the idea of perseverance and motivates me to continue with renewed determination.
It serves as a reminder that even if we’re not at a strong place now, we will all arrive there. It is a promise.
I hope this message proves helpful to someone during their own challenging times.
